The following request was sent to us by the Parents of Clayton
Our youngest son, Clayton, just turned 23 on June 26. On May 19, he was diagnosed with carcinoma of unknown primary. It is in advanced stages. He has tumors in his left lung and his left pleural lining as well as the mediastinal lymph nodes. The only pharmaceutical oncologist, in the country, told us, that he had between 3 to 12 months to live. The only medical option is chemotherapy as radiation nor surgery can be performed for this type of cancer. The odds of survival are pretty slim, according to the professionals. It is very rare, especially in a 23-year-old, lifetime non-smoking, otherwise healthy, athlete, and is usually very aggressive. It is not “usual” for somebody his age to have developed this type of cancer, so he just does not fit into the statistics. Additionally, in early June, we learned that he is to be a new father in February next year. His attitude is great and he says if anybody can beat this, he can. Of his baby, he says this gives him one more reason to live. Perhaps he is right. .
